Q: Why are you hosting a 5K and Fun Run?

A: To celebrate with our friends and neighbors with a family friendly event which promotes an active lifestyle and support Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation. 

Q: I am not associated with St Joseph School, Catholic education or Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation. Should I run or walk?

A: ABSOLUTELY. In fact we welcome everyone to join us to run or walk. Runners from other elementary schools, local high schools and colleges will be joining us, along with friends and neighbors.

Q: Where is the race? Will the streets be closed to traffic?

A: The race will be through the beautiful streets of Garden City. The race route will be closed to traffic. The race begins and ends in front of SJS on 4th Street near Franklin Ave.  A water station and split times will be available at each mile.

Q: Can I register online?

A: Online registration is preferred.  Go to elitefeats to register. A paper application is available of download.    

Q: How much is registration?

A: $25 for the 5K  $10 for the Fun Run before March 9th, so sign up early.  All participants that pre-register will receive a race t-shirt and receive access to our after race party.

Q: Will the race be “official?”

A: The 5K  race course will be sanctioned and certified by USA Track and Field. The race will use professional chip timing. Race results and finish line photos will be available moments after you complete your run on your smart phone .  Come out and run a personal record!  In 2016, a certified WORLD RECORD was set on our course!

Q: Will there be awards for the 5K?

A: The top three male and female finishers: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

plus awards for fastest Catholic elementary school teacher and fastest clergy.

Q: When can I get my bib number?

A: Bib numbers encoded with a disposable chip for timing will be available the evening prior to the race at St Joseph School (450 Franklin Ave)  from 5:00-7:30PM.  Bibs can be picked up on race day from 6:45 -  8:20AM. No bibs will be distributed after 8:20 AM on race day.


Q: Can spectators watch?

A: The entire race course will be open to your adoring fans, family and spectators. Please encourage  supporters to come out and cheer us on (especially for the kids). There will be a DJ and a post race party.

Q: Is the race held rain or shine?

A: Yes, the race is held rain or snow or shine.

Q: Can I sign up on race day?

A: Yes - but it is very limited. Register Online— it's quick and easy and saves you time and money.

Q: Where can I park?

A: Streets will be closed for the race. Street parking will be limited.  Parking will not be available at St Joseph School.  Street parking outside the race route is available. Ample race day parking will be available in Village Municipal lot 6E (Entrance on 7th street, east of Franklin Ave).

Q: I am not a runner. Can I still participate?

A: Of course, walkers are welcome and encouraged to participate in either the 5K or the fun run.

Q: Can I walk/run with a stroller?

A: Yes. Bring the kids out for a good time.

Q: Can I volunteer to help?

A: Many hands are needed to make this event a success. Any and all help you can provide on race day will be greatly appreciated. Please register as a volunteer via email Registered volunteers will get a groovy volunteer t shirt and heaps of thanks.

Q: Can I/my company help sponsor the event?

A: We are very grateful to our generous sponsors. Sponsorship and publicity opportunities are available. Please email for details.

Q: Will there be a place to check my bag at the race? 
A: No bag check service will be available.
